US Peace Plan for Ukraine
The US peace plan for Ukraine consists of 28 points and was developed without the participation of Ukraine and Europe. After a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Dan Driscoll that took place on the 28th, Zelensky expressed his willingness to collaborate on this peace plan. According to the document, the US plans to initiate the reconstruction of Ukraine amounting to 200 billion dollars.
Key Points of the Plan
Among the key points of the plan is that elections in Ukraine are to be held 100 days after the signing of the peace treaty. After the signing of the peace treaty, an immediate ceasefire is expected. The plan also states that Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk will de facto come under Russia's control but will legally remain Ukrainian.
Dan Driscoll, who discussed the plan with Zelensky, expressed optimism about the outcomes of the meeting. He emphasized that, with an aggressive approach to the implementation of the plan, there may be strict terms imposed by the US. At the same time, according to experts, Ukraine is the weaker side in this situation and is under greater pressure.
Among the main points of the peace plan are the following:
- confirmation of Ukraine's sovereignty
- entrenchment of a non-aligned status
- limitation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
- freezing the front in the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions
It is also important that borders cannot be changed by force, and NATO will not deploy troops in Ukraine. Russia commits to legally enshrine a non-aggression pact with Ukraine and Europe.
Among other points of the peace plan are the initiation of the reconstruction of Ukraine by the US and EU, gradual lifting of sanctions, and the return of Russia to the G8, prisoner exchanges, humanitarian initiatives, monitoring the execution of the plan through a Peace Council led by Donald Trump, and the oversight of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
This peace plan, developed without the involvement of Ukraine, underscores the complexity of diplomatic efforts in resolving the conflict, particularly in the context of Ukraine's reconstruction and relations with Russia.
As US plans may significantly impact Ukraine's future, it is important for the Ukrainian side to actively engage in discussions of such initiatives to protect its interests and ensure stable development in the region.
