Heraskevych's Disqualification and Military Escalation
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has barred Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych from competing in the 2026 Winter Games. This decision was made by the jury of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) prior to the first Olympic run. The athlete was disqualified for failing to comply with the IOC's guidelines on self-expression, specifically concerning a helmet he intended to wear that did not conform to the established regulations. Consequently, the IOC revoked his accreditation for the Olympics.
