Recently, Moldova has tightened requirements for Ukrainian drivers traveling by car across the border. Now, a certificate of passing the technical inspection is mandatory for crossing the border. Without this document, vehicles may be denied entry, regardless of the presence of other necessary documents. This new requirement applies to all types of transport - from passenger cars to trucks.

How to obtain a technical inspection certificate

To obtain a technical inspection certificate, one must contact a licensed auto service and undergo a comprehensive diagnostic check of the vehicle. This document is an important confirmation that your vehicle is in proper condition, free of critical malfunctions and meets all necessary standards.

The new rules also stipulate that Ukrainian drivers must have not only the technical inspection certificate but also other documents, including a foreign passport, driver's license, vehicle registration documents, international auto insurance 'Green Card', and a vignette for paying road taxes in Moldova.

Prohibited goods and items

Moldovan customs regulations prohibit the import of narcotic substances, weapons, explosives, hazardous chemicals, as well as meat and milk without factory packaging, plants, planting materials, and soil. Violating these rules may lead to the confiscation of prohibited items and even a ban on entry into the country.

Currently, there are nine checkpoints operating in the Odesa region, eight of which can be used for traveling to Moldova. These new requirements regulate road traffic at the border and create certain conditions for a safe and legal trip to the neighboring country.
