On the night of December 11, unknown drones attacked Moscow. The online publication 'Glavkom' reported this. Earlier, Russian sources also mentioned an attack by strike drones on the capital of the Russian Federation on the evening of December 10. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin first informed about the actions of air defense forces in the region at 22:41 when the number of unknown drones heading towards the city increased.
Consequences of the attack
The attack led to the closure of airspace over Moscow, forcing all Moscow airports – 'Vnukovo', 'Domodedovo', 'Sheremetyevo' and 'Zhukovsky' to activate the plan 'Carpet'. As a result, departures and landings of flights were suspended.
Sobyanin reported a total of 30 drones involved in the attack and emphasized that emergency services are working at the locations where debris has fallen.
Other drone attacks in Russia
In addition to the attack on Moscow, drones have attacked other regions of Russia at different times. For example, on the night of December 4, powerful explosions occurred in the Oryol region and the Stavropol Territory. There is information about possible damage to the large chemical enterprise 'Azot' in Nevinnomyssk.
Similar attacks have also occurred in the Krasnodar Territory and Cheboksary in the past, causing material damage and posing a threat to the safety of local residents.
The drone attack on Moscow prompted a rapid response from local authorities and requires further investigation to determine those responsible and the motives behind the incident.
