On Monday, June 2, it became known that Mikheil Saakashvili intends to regain his Georgian citizenship. According to the controversial politician, he wants to regain citizenship to participate in the presidential elections of Georgia.
The politician announced his decision on the air of the television channel 'Rustavi-2'.

Saakashvili called the current president of Georgia, Giorgi Margvelashvili, a coward and stated that the process of stripping him of citizenship was carried out with significant violations, and he demands the current authorities to return his passport for participation in the upcoming presidential elections.
Saakashvili lost his Georgian citizenship in 2015 after obtaining a Ukrainian passport.
