A New Training Series for Public Servants
A new educational series titled 'Public Service Without Barriers' has premiered on Ukraine's Diia.Osvita digital education platform. Designed for public officials, the series offers practical guidance on making government services more inclusive and accessible to all citizens. This initiative reflects a growing global focus on digital accessibility and inclusive public administration.
Series Content and Development
The series was developed at the initiative of Ukraine's National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service (NAUCS), with the participation of the Presidential Advisor on Barrier-Free Access. Its production was supported by the 'Human Rights for Ukraine, Phase II' project, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. The series consists of seven episodes.
It provides civil servants with actionable recommendations on:
- conducting audits of physical accessibility;
- creating user-friendly websites and documents;
- employing clear, jargon-free communication;
- identifying barriers and developing practical plans for change.
Implementing these practices aims to make state services accessible to every Ukrainian citizen.
The launch of 'Public Service Without Barriers' marks a significant step toward inclusivity within the state sector by equipping officials with essential knowledge and tools. This effort is expected to improve service quality, particularly for people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups who frequently encounter obstacles when accessing public services.
