New Water Infrastructure Projects Underway in Dnipropetrovsk Region
More than 28,000 people across two communities in the Dnipropetrovsk region will soon have steady, centralized water supply once ongoing construction of new pipelines and sewage systems is completed. The State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine is overseeing these projects. Water security has become a top priority for the area following the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant, underscoring the critical nature of these efforts.
Project Details for Each Community
In one community, which spans 35 settlements home to nearly 18,000 residents, work is already 75% finished. Crews are building a pumping and filtration station with a daily capacity of 1,500 cubic meters, laying 8,800 meters of water main, and installing almost 2 kilometers of sewer lines. Completion for this community is scheduled for July 2026.
The second community includes 14 settlements with around 11,000 inhabitants and is set to receive its new water system later this year. Construction there involves a pumping and filtration station capable of 1,000 cubic meters per day, new water supply and sewer networks, plus a modern sewage pumping station. Progress stands at 60%, with the first water delivery expected in September.
Combined, the two projects require laying over 10 kilometers of water pipelines and more than 7 kilometers of external sewage lines, significantly boosting the region's water infrastructure. Serhiy Sukhomlyn highlighted the importance of these initiatives for local residents.
