He leaves behind three sons and his wife, Olena Shykura, with whom he shared nearly 13 years of marriage.

“My Heart, my Joy, pure soul, beloved husband, senior sailor, warrior Ihor died tragically while carrying out a combat mission... I was happy with you every day of the almost thirteen years of our life together.” - Olena Shykura

She said she will continue raising their three sons and search for meaning in life after this devastating loss.

Friends and colleagues have been mourning the immeasurable loss for Ukraine. Nina Paskal, who knew Ihor, remarked: 'I was always captivated by his deep interest in Balkan and Greek music... Ihor was an incredibly bright, profound, and creative person.' Alla Pustovit also expressed her condolences, emphasizing that 'the loss for Ukraine is unspeakable.
