Lukyanivska Metro Station Reopens After Repairs
Repair crews have finished installing new entrance doors at Kyiv's Lukyanivska metro station, which were damaged by shelling. A total of 32 door panels have been fitted across both station exits. Each entrance and exit is now equipped with a door unit measuring 0.9 meters in width, improving passenger accessibility. This work is part of ongoing efforts to restore the capital's vital public transport network.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Lukyanivska station has sustained damage on seven separate occasions. The most recent incident damaging the station vestibule occurred on July 21. Then, overnight on November 14, a nearby bus stop was hit during a missile and drone attack on Kyiv and the surrounding region by the invading forces.
Revised Operating Hours and Service Adjustments
Due to the damage, Kyiv's municipal services have begun removing fencing near the station. To better serve passengers, the following new exit schedules are now in effect:
- Exit No. 1, located on Yuri Illienko Street, is open from 5:35 AM to 10:28 PM.
- Exit No. 2, on the side of the 'Kvadrat' shopping center, operates from 5:36 AM to 10:27 PM.
Given the situation, trolleybus routes No. 6, 16, 18, 35, bus route No. 50, and several minibuses have been bypassing the blocked stop to drop off passengers. It is standard practice that during air raid alerts, all underground metro stations operate around the clock as shelters, ensuring passenger safety during emergencies.
The restoration of Lukyanivska station forms part of a broader program to rebuild Kyiv's war-damaged infrastructure.
