Національний банк припиняє обіг гривневих купюр старого зразка: як вчинити з банкнотами, випущеними у 2003-2007 роках.

Replacement of banknotes in Ukraine

The National Bank of Ukraine is withdrawing from circulation banknotes of 50 and 200 hryvnias of the old sample, which were issued between 2003 and 2007. This process of replacing banknotes will take place gradually during regular transactions. This initiative is aimed at updating the currency circulation and ensuring a higher level of protection against counterfeits.

The new banknotes that will replace the old ones are samples from 2014 and newer, which are equipped with an enhanced security system. The front of the 50 hryvnias features Mykhailo Hrushevskyi, while the 200 hryvnias displays Lesya Ukrainka. Modern fourth-generation banknotes also have improved relief elements that make them easier for people with visual impairments to use.

Importance of new banknotes

Citizens should be attentive to changes in cash circulation and bear in mind that old banknotes will gradually lose their validity. Replacing banknotes with newer ones will help improve the security of monetary transactions and reduce the risk of counterfeiting.

This initiative of the National Bank of Ukraine is part of the overall strategy for modernizing the country's financial system, which includes the implementation of new technologies and enhancing protection against counterfeiting.

Updating banknotes also meets international standards in the field of currency circulation, which may increase trust in the national currency. Citizens should keep track of changes and consider new banknotes in their financial transactions to avoid inconveniences in the future.
