National Cashback Payouts Begin
Payouts for the national cashback program, covering purchases made in December, will commence on February 27. During December, Ukrainians bought nearly 7 billion hryvnias worth of domestically produced goods. A total of 699 million hryvnias in cashback will be credited to the accounts of 4.4 million citizens. Since the program's inception, Ukrainians have received almost 6.3 billion hryvnias in cashback. This initiative is part of a broader economic strategy to support local businesses and consumer spending during challenging times.
Revised Tiered Cashback System Launches
An updated, tiered cashback system with rates of 15% and 5% will take effect on March 1, 2024. New rules for accruing national cashback will also launch on this date and remain in force until June 30, 2026. Significant changes will also apply to the list of eligible goods and services on which the cashback funds can be spent, with a revision of this list scheduled for November 22, 2025.
The received cashback can be spent on:
- utility services
- postal services
- Ukrainian-produced food products
- Ukrainian medicines and medical devices
- books and other printed materials
- charity, including donations to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other benevolent causes
To join the program, citizens can apply via the website or mobile app of one of the participating banks. Afterward, they must designate cards for purchase payments and grant permission for transaction data sharing. Additionally, it is necessary to open a 'National Cashback' card and select it for payouts within the 'Diia' app.
The payout for December purchases is part of a program designed to support Ukrainian production and consumption. The updated cashback rules effective March 1, 2024, underscore the state's aim to incentivize the purchase of domestically produced goods and provide more options for spending the received funds. These changes may positively impact the country's economic situation by fostering the development of local businesses and supporting social initiatives.
