National Police of Ukraine Launches Sweeping Inspections
Following the May 20 exposure of criminal schemes involving high-ranking police officials, the National Police of Ukraine has initiated comprehensive audits across the Zhytomyr, Ternopil, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. Ordered by National Police Chief Ivan Vyhivskyi, the inspections are led by his deputies Maksym Tsutskiridze, Andriy Nyebytov, and Serhiy Kobets. The audit teams include personnel from the Main Inspection Department, the Internal Security Department, the HR unit, and other specialized divisions.
Audit Results: Arrests and Seizures
As a result of these operations, five individuals have been detained:
- Serhiy Bezpalko, head of the Main Department of the National Police in Ivano-Frankivsk region,
- Volodymyr Yatsiuk, deputy head of the Main Department of the National Police in Ivano-Frankivsk region,
- Andriy Tkachyk, first deputy head of the Main Department of the National Police in Ternopil region,
- Illia Hulevatyi, deputy head of the Main Department of the National Police in Zhytomyr region,
- A driver from the motor pool of the State Institution "Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs," who investigators allege acted as an intermediary.
Searches conducted during the audits uncovered a luxury fleet of six vehicles, five Swiss watches, firearms and cold weapons, mobile phones, and cash in various currencies totaling over UAH 22.6 million.
The National Police has emphasized that no violation of the law, regardless of rank or position, will be overlooked. All officials implicated in the criminal proceedings have been suspended from duty. The Ministry of Internal Affairs also confirmed the dismissal of the driver from the State Institution "Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs." The National Police will continue its systematic efforts to purge the force of individuals who discredit the police profession.
