Drones spotted over Schleswig-Holstein in Germany
On the night of September 26, several drones were noticed in Germany over Schleswig-Holstein. According to Interior Minister Sabine Sütterlin-Waack, there is currently an investigation into suspicions of espionage. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing NDR.
The Ministry of the Interior is 'holding intensive and ongoing negotiations' with the federal government and the Bundeswehr. The police are enhancing drone protection in coordination with other northern German states. The minister did not provide details on how many drones were spotted and where.
Drones and other events in the airspace
Where the drones came from and what is behind their flights remains unclear. All authorities are very vigilant, and the security situation has not changed, said Sütterlin-Waack.
Recall that the airport in the city of Aalborg in northern Denmark suspended flights on Wednesday, September 24, in the evening after unknown drones were spotted in the airspace. Three more small airports in the southern part of the country - in the cities of Esbjerg, Sønderborg, and Vojens - also reported the appearance of drones but continued operations.
The events with drones over Schleswig-Holstein in Germany and the airports in Denmark confirm the growing threat of illegal use of drones in the airspace. Governments are taking measures to ensure security and investigate incidents to prevent possible incidents.
