Certain categories of pensioners may receive from 597 to 1038 UAH in addition to their main pension in August. This is a supplement for special merits before Ukraine, which amounts to 23–40% of the subsistence minimum for non-working individuals. This is reported by the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
Who has the right to a pension supplement in August 2026
The supplement is not granted to all pensioners. Ukrainians whose state awards, titles, sports achievements, or personal contributions meet the legal requirements have the right to it.
The list of recipients includes:
- Heroes of Ukraine and knights of the Heavenly Hundred order;
- citizens awarded four or more orders of Ukraine after August 24, 1991;
- holders of honorary titles 'National' and 'Merited';
- war veterans awarded the order for personal courage during the defense of Ukraine;
- winners of state prizes;
- winners of Olympic, Paralympic Games, and the Deaf World Games;
- world and European champions and record holders;
- cosmonauts and members of flight test crews;
- mothers who have given birth to at least five children and raised them to the age of six.
Under certain conditions, the father has the right to receive the payment in place of the mother. This right arises if, after the mother's death or deprivation of her parental rights, he raised the children until the established age.
The supplement is also provided for recognized fighters for Ukraine's independence in the 20th century who were rehabilitated after illegal imprisonment or forced placement in a psychiatric institution for political or religious reasons.
Size of the pension supplement and the procedure for registration
In 2026, the subsistence minimum for individuals who have lost their ability to work is 2595 UAH. Accordingly, a supplement of 23% equals 596.85 UAH, while the maximum payment of 40% reaches 1038 UAH. The specific percentage depends on the category of the recipient.
To register, one needs to submit an application and documents verifying special merits to the Pension Fund. One can apply personally at a service center or remotely through the web portal of electronic services of the PFU.
If the application is submitted within 12 months after the right arises, the supplement will be appointed from the date of acquiring such right. For a later application, it will be accrued from the day of submission of documents.
After the recipient's death, a non-working member of his family may receive 70% of the due supplement as part of the pension due to the loss of the breadwinner. If there are two or more such family members, they are granted 90% of the payment. After an increase in the subsistence minimum, the PFU automatically conducts recalculation.
It is worth noting that some Ukrainians may receive not close to a third of their salary but 60% of earnings.
