NAEC 'Energoatom' has a new supervisory board
On December 31, the Nomination Committee approved the independent members of the new supervisory board of NAEC 'Energoatom'. The selection of board members was unanimous, indicating cohesion within the committee, which includes representatives of the government, the European Union, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the business ombudsman.
Composition of the new supervisory board
The new supervisory board includes three independent members:
- Rumina Velshi - international expert on nuclear safety and regulatory oversight;
- Laura Garbencute-Bakiene - specialist in finance, auditing, and risk management in the energy sector;
- Patrick Fragman - engineer and international manager in the nuclear and energy field;
- Breez Buyon - lawyer specializing in energy regulation and corporate governance.
It is worth noting that the selection of three state representatives for the supervisory board will be completed in the first half of January. At the end of November, the competitive selection of independent members of the 'Energoatom' supervisory board began. An audit of 'Energoatom' at ten subsidiaries of the company is also currently ongoing, and interim audit results will be known by the end of December.

The creation of a new supervisory board of NAEC 'Energoatom' is an important step towards reforming Ukraine's energy sector. Involving independent experts in company management can enhance transparency and effectiveness in managing nuclear energy. The completion of the selection of state representatives and the audit results may also influence further changes in the structure and strategy of 'Energoatom'.
