Russia's Attack on NATO Will Not Weaken Ukraine: Political Scientist Explains Why Support Will Increase

Військові дії Росії проти НАТО лише зміцнять міжнародну підтримку України, вважає експерт.

Opinion of Political Scientist Yuriy Romanenko

Political scientist Yuriy Romanenko expressed the opinion that a possible attack by the Russian Federation on the Baltic countries or other NATO states will not reduce support for Ukraine; on the contrary, it will strengthen it and lead to the consolidation of the West. Romanenko voiced this position during his monologue, titled 'Trump's Mistakes: What Should Ukraine Do. Romanenko's Monologue'.

In his speech, the political scientist noted that in the case of Russian aggression against the Baltic states, the situation could become so critical that the West would be ready to print significant amounts to support defense needs.

“I am not sure, precisely because if Russia attacks the Baltic countries, there will be such a crisis that they will print 190 billion euros for you to meet defense needs,” - said Yuriy Romanenko.

Furthermore, he emphasized that in such a situation, Ukraine would become even more important to Western countries.

“And Ukraine in this case will become even more important because it would be possible to cooperate with Ukraine to strike Belarus there and, accordingly, distract Russia's resources to the Baltic countries, to NATO countries,” - noted Romanenko.
He believes that during such a development of events, Ukraine's positions could strengthen. “Therefore, I think that in this case, our positions may be strengthened, functionally strengthened,” - the political scientist summarized.

Strengthening Military Cooperation

The statements of Yuriy Romanenko reflect the general trend of strengthening military cooperation between Ukraine and NATO countries against the backdrop of growing aggression from Russia. The deterioration of the security situation in Europe could act as a catalyst for more active support for Ukraine from Western partners, which, in turn, may change the balance of power in the region. The consolidation of the West in response to the threat from Russia may also lead to new initiatives in the field of security and defense, which will be an important aspect for Ukraine's future.

It is important to note that Yuriy Romanenko's views on potential Russian aggression reflect not only current threats but also historical context. His comparison with the events of 1941 emphasizes how serious the consequences for security in Europe could be.
