Serhiy Storozhenko, lieutenant general heading the 6th Combined Arms Army of the Russian Federation, has become the highest-ranking Ukrainian defector who now fights against his own country. This was reported by The Telegraph citing 'Glavkom.' Storozhenko, a former Ukrainian officer, defected to the enemy during the occupation of Crimea by Russian troops in 2014. He was born in a village located two hours west of the city of Kupiansk, which is now under threat of destruction due to Storozhenko's actions. It is claimed that the defector's goal is to regain control of a key position in the Kharkiv region.
Attempts at Occupation and Analysis
Lieutenant General Storozhenko's plans have been complicated by his attempts to promote a narrative of events beneficial to the Kremlin. History of the war shows the elimination of up to 13 thousand Russian soldiers during the attempt to capture the city, however, there have been no significant successes. Even Russian propagandists have disproved vague statements by Putin about the siege of Ukrainian troops in the city.
