Artem Dmytruk's 2025 Asset Declaration
Artem Dmytruk, a Ukrainian member of parliament now residing in the United Kingdom, has filed his 2025 financial declaration, revealing a sharp decline in both income and savings compared to the previous year. Dmytruk, who is part of the parliamentary group 'Restoration of Ukraine,' left Ukraine in August 2024 and has been living abroad since. This case highlights the complex legal and political challenges involving officials who have left Ukraine since the full-scale invasion.
The 2025 declaration lists a 51-square-meter apartment in Odesa, which his family has used since 2019. His declared assets also include:
- A Poljot de luxe gold watch
- Three religious icons (Jesus Christ, the Holy Mother of God, and Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker)
- A 1976 Soviet-era VAZ 2101 car
Dmytruk's sole income for 2025 is listed as 8,600 hryvnias in social benefits. This is a stark contrast to 2024, when he declared an income of 468,500 hryvnias in salary and an additional 10,300 hryvnias in social payments.
Regarding savings, only 883 hryvnias remained in Dmytruk's Ukrainian bank account by 2025. The previous year, he had declared $60,000 USD and 500,000 hryvnias in cash. His wife, Anastasiia, declared holdings of 26,800 hryvnias in a bank account, $40,000 USD, and 700,000 hryvnias in cash for 2025. In 2024, she had declared $46,000 USD in cash.
Legal Proceedings and Broader Context
In a separate legal development, Westminster Magistrates' Court in London has rejected Ukraine's request to extradite Artem Dmytruk, who is subject to an international arrest warrant on suspicion of assaulting a law enforcement officer. The judge cited Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, referencing events from March 2022, as the grounds for refusal. Ukraine's State Bureau of Investigation accuses Dmytruk of attacking an officer in Odesa, alleging that he and accomplices inflicted bodily harm and attempted to steal a weapon. Before leaving Ukraine, Dmytruk was ordained as a subdeacon in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) with the blessing of Metropolitan Agafangel of Odesa and Izmail.
The significant drop in Artem Dmytruk's declared income and savings may point to a difficult financial situation following his move abroad. Simultaneously, the British court's refusal to extradite him could impact the future of his case and the public perception of Ukrainian MPs who relocate outside the country during wartime. This situation underscores the critical importance of international judicial cooperation in matters of justice and combating criminal activity on Ukrainian territory.
