The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, held a meeting with NATO Senior Representative in Ukraine, Patrick Turner.

The head of the Ministry of Defense thanked the countries and leadership of the Alliance for their solidarity and assistance to Ukraine, particularly for the initiation of the PURL mechanism together with the USA. According to Denys Shmyhal, the initiative has already proven its effectiveness — allies financed the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine amounting to 2 billion dollars.

'We discussed long-term support for Ukraine within the PURL framework. Attracting new participants and increasing contributions is critically important for the Armed Forces to acquire American weapons,' said the Minister of Defense.

Separately, the parties focused on other ways to meet Ukraine's defense priority needs.

'By the end of the year, our state needs approximately 6 billion dollars for key types of unmanned weaponry: FPV drones, interceptor drones, long-range drones, and missiles. I emphasized the importance of supporting Ukrainian manufacturers within the Build in Ukraine and Build with Ukraine programs. We have strong industrial cooperation with NATO countries and significant prospects for its development,' noted Denys Shmyhal.

The meeting took place as part of deepening cooperation between Ukraine and NATO and coordinating international military assistance.
