Financial Literacy Conference for Educators

The National Bank of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science held the third annual FinLit Forum, a financial literacy conference for teachers. The event, part of the international Global Money Week initiative, gathered nearly 1,000 participants. Its central theme was building a comprehensive financial education system as part of the broader New Ukrainian School reform.

A New Subject and Textbooks

Starting in September 2025, eighth-grade students will begin studying a new subject titled 'Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy.' During the conference, a textbook for ninth grade was also presented, marking another step in Ukraine's efforts to enhance financial education. Attendees included educators, representatives from state institutions, the financial sector, and expert communities. This initiative reflects a growing global trend of integrating practical life skills into national curricula.

The conference concluded with a panel discussion focused on ensuring high-quality teaching of financial and entrepreneurial education in schools and identifying the necessary steps for its further development.

Financial literacy is becoming an integral part of the educational system, helping hundreds of thousands of teenagers develop crucial life skills. At the National Bank, we understand the importance of effective teaching and preparing educators, which is why we create textbooks and teaching materials, conduct professional development courses for teachers, and support opportunities for continued learning not only in the 9th grade but also in high school.

The conference represented a significant step in advancing financial literacy in Ukraine and underscored the state's commitment to preparing new generations for financial challenges.

The development of financial literacy in Ukraine is increasingly relevant amid global economic shifts and the challenges facing the younger generation. Introducing this new subject into the school curriculum will equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for successfully managing their finances in the future. This initiative highlights the importance of integrating financial education into the general education system, which will, in turn, foster the development of conscious and responsible citizens.

As Ukraine continues to enhance its financial education framework, the upcoming Global Money Week 2026 will play a pivotal role in equipping students with essential financial skills. This initiative aligns with the recent launch of the new textbook, further solidifying the commitment to prepare young individuals for real-world financial challenges.
