Severe Storms Leave Over 350 Ukrainian Settlements Without Power

Потужні бурі спричинили відключення електроенергії в більш ніж 350 населених пунктах України.

Emergency Crews Tackle Storm Aftermath Across Six Regions

Teams from Ukraine's State Emergency Service (DSNS) have been mobilized to deal with the fallout from a severe weather event that swept through six regions of the country. Powerful winds and heavy rain triggered numerous emergency calls, with the highest volume reported in Kirovohrad Oblast, where DSNS units responded to 92 incidents. Their efforts included clearing roadways, removing fallen trees from residential areas, and freeing damaged vehicles.

Fortunately, no fatalities or injuries have been recorded as a result of the storm. However, more than 350 populated areas are still without electricity. The affected regions include Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Zakarpattia, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Sumy, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and Kyiv Oblasts.

Rescuers urge the public: 'During strong winds, avoid staying near trees, billboards, and power lines. If you are in danger, call 101 - DSNS.'

The Critical Role of Disaster Preparedness

This widespread storm, affecting a large portion of Ukraine, highlights the importance of having emergency services ready to respond to natural disasters. As climate change makes such weather events more frequent, ensuring public safety and rapidly restoring infrastructure remain top priorities for state authorities.

It is essential that citizens follow the safety advice provided by rescue teams to minimize risks during extreme weather.

As the aftermath of the storm continues to impact various regions, the capital is experiencing its own challenges with persistent heavy rainfall.
