Donald Trump is ready to meet with Vladimir Putin on the condition that the meeting includes Vladimir Zelensky. This was reported by The New York Post citing a White House official.
'Putin must meet with Zelensky for the meeting to take place. The location has not yet been determined,' noted the White House official.
Preliminarily, the Kremlin has agreed to a meeting between Trump and Putin, but the White House has yet to confirm any plans. The only thing mentioned at the press conference was the possibility of a trilateral meeting between the US, Russia, and Ukraine.
Risks of a trilateral meeting
Trump has expressed dissatisfaction that Putin's promises of peace are usually followed by new attacks on Ukraine. Holding a bilateral meeting before the trilateral one could be a risk, as there is a possibility that Putin could deceive Trump.
The Kremlin representative has so far rejected the idea of a meeting between Trump and Zelensky, calling for better preparation for a bilateral meeting. Markets reacted to the announcement of a possible meeting with a rise of 4.5%.
However, there is currently uncertainty regarding a potential meeting between Trump, Putin, and Zelensky, and negotiations between the parties continue.
