Military Targets Struck in Ukraine and Russia
In overnight operations leading into April 4th, Ukraine's Drone Forces launched coordinated strikes against military installations in temporarily occupied territories and industrial facilities within Russia. These attacks successfully hit several critical military assets and industrial sites, including in the city of Tolyatti and other locations. These strikes demonstrate Ukraine's growing capacity to project force deep behind enemy lines using unmanned systems.
In Feodosia, a multi-functional radar station, part of an S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile system, was struck. The attack was carried out by operators of the 9th 'Kairos' Battalion, which belongs to the 414th 'Birds of Magyar' Separate Brigade. A Tor anti-aircraft missile system was hit in the Zakhativka area of Donetsk Oblast, and a ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft gun was destroyed in Lozivskyi, Luhansk Oblast. Drones also struck a fuel tank in Novosimeikyne.
Logistics Hubs and Industrial Enterprises Attacked
The strikes also targeted logistics hubs in Novopoltavka, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and Krasne Pole, Donetsk Oblast. Additional impacts were recorded in:
- Holubytske
- Velyka Novosilka
- Samiilivka
- Bilovodsk
- Shulhyntsi
Command and observation posts, as well as troop concentrations belonging to the 36th and 160th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigades, the 143rd Motorized Rifle Regiment, and the 18th Motorized Rifle Division, were damaged.
Within Russia, chemical industry plants in the city of Tolyatti, Samara Oblast, came under attack. Samara Oblast Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev confirmed the incident. The assault led to restricted transport movement in the area of the northern industrial hub. One industrial worker sustained shrapnel wounds and was hospitalized. A drone also struck the roof of an apartment building, shattering windows in several units.
The CyberBoroхno project and the Telegram channel Astra reported fires at the Togliattikauchuk and KuibyshevAzot plants. Togliattikauchuk specializes in producing synthetic rubber and chemical components for tires, while KuibyshevAzot manufactures nitrogen fertilizers, caprolactam, and polyamides.
"This radar can detect hypersonic targets at a range of up to 600 km, automatically track up to 100 targets simultaneously, and guide up to 72 missiles. It deploys within five minutes," noted Robert Brovdi (Magyar), emphasizing the significance of the radar station targeted in the strikes.
The executed strikes point to an intensification of Ukrainian efforts to counter Russian military aggression and highlight the strategic use of drone technology to achieve military objectives. By hitting key military assets and industrial enterprises, Ukraine showcases an ability to effectively plan and conduct operations in occupied territories, which may influence the future course of the conflict. These events also underscore the heightened risks for civilian populations in areas where such attacks occur.
In a related series of strikes, Ukrainian forces have also targeted a Russian S-400 system, along with key industrial sites, showcasing their strategic capabilities.
