Strike on Kharkiv's Kholodnohirskyi District
In the early hours of June 19, Russian forces launched guided aerial bombs (KABs) at the Kholodnohirskyi district of Kharkiv, sparking fires, damaging homes, and causing civilian casualties. The first reports of the attack emerged around 3:49 AM local time. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed the strike, noting that by 4:33 AM, approximately 15 private residential houses and a warehouse had been damaged. That number later climbed to over 40 structures.
As of the time of reporting, six people in the Kholodnohirskyi district have been recorded as injured. Among them are three children: two 11-year-old girls and a 14-year-old boy, all suffering from acute stress reactions. Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov also reported five injured individuals. The attack ignited a fire in the area that required urgent extinguishing.
Ongoing Situation in Kharkiv
Kharkiv remains under relentless assault. In 2025 alone, the city has endured 728 bombardments and spent 108 days under air raid alerts. On the night of June 9 this year, drones targeted Kharkiv while missiles struck Chuhuiv, killing three people and wounding 25, including children. In a separate previous incident, Russian drone attacks on Kharkiv left five people injured, one of them a child.
The strike on Kholodnohirskyi district is part of the broader, ongoing military conflict in eastern Ukraine, where Kharkiv has faced repeated shelling. These events underscore the severe toll on civilians living in the conflict zone. Local authorities continue to monitor the situation and provide aid to those affected, though the frequency of attacks poses immense challenges to safety and stability in the region.
The recent attack on Kharkiv's Kholodnohirskyi district is just one of many incidents highlighting the ongoing violence in the region. In a related event, three individuals lost their lives in Chuhuiv, while ten others were injured in Kharkiv during overnight strikes. These developments illustrate the persistent danger faced by civilians amidst the escalating conflict in eastern Ukraine.
