Strike on Kyiv and WOG's Response
An overnight attack on the Ukrainian capital on July 2 damaged an ambulance substation in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Five people were injured in the assault, including paramedics and drivers stationed at the facility. One of the injured medics is reported to be in extremely critical condition. In response to the threat of renewed large-scale missile and drone strikes from Russia, the fuel company WOG has imposed temporary emergency restrictions on its gas station operations in Kyiv and the surrounding region. These measures took effect from 11:00 PM on July 1, 2026, and lasted until 7:00 AM on July 2, 2026. Starting July 1, WOG also adjusted its operating rules in seven regions of Ukraine due to the deteriorating security situation.

It is worth noting that Russian strikes on gas stations in Chernihiv region have become nearly a daily occurrence, with four different stations in the area being hit over the past 24 hours alone.
“In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a building housing one of the ambulance substations was damaged. So far, we know of five injured—medics and drivers from the substation,” said Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
