In Germany, a discussion has arisen about social assistance payments to Ukrainian men of conscription age. The CSU party expressed dissatisfaction that more than 150,000 Ukrainian conscripts receive support from the German government amounting to around €1.3 billion per year, reports Bild.

CSU expert Stefan Meyer demands to stop these payments. 'We must put an end to civil assistance being received by conscripted Ukrainian men. This group is not entitled to receive this social benefit and should either work in Germany or serve in the military in Ukraine,' noted Meyer.

The Ukrainian embassy in Germany stated that the presence of Ukrainians abroad is not prohibited, and many of them are there legally, having registration in the military accounting system.

Decrease in the number of asylum seekers in Germany

According to an internal report from the European Commission, the number of asylum seekers in Germany has sharply decreased. From January 1 to June 30 of this year, there were 65,495 applications submitted, which is 43% less compared to the same period in 2024, reports Welt am Sonntag.

With fewer asylum seekers in Germany, the social situation in the country may change, considering various aspects of domestic policy related to the acceptance of foreigners.
