Ukraine's Top Athletes of the Month to be Honored in April Ceremony

Awards Ceremony for 'Athlete of the Month' Winners

The National Olympic Committee of Ukraine (NOC) will host an awards ceremony on April 9, 2026, to honor the winners of its 'Athlete of the Month' competition. The event will take place at the Olympic House, located at 39-41 Khoryva Street in Kyiv. Athletes and coaches will be recognized for their outstanding performances during December 2025, and January and February 2026. This regular ceremony highlights the nation's sporting talent despite the ongoing challenges it faces.

Media accreditation will be open until April 8, 2026. Applications can be submitted by phone at +380974694591 or via email at press@noc-ukr.org. The ceremony's exact start time will be confirmed once the accreditation process is complete.

Athletes Receiving Honors

The athletes set to be honored include:

  • Oleksandr Okypniuk - Best Athlete of December 2025 for winning a Freestyle Skiing Aerials World Cup stage in Ruka, Finland.
  • Vasylina Oliasiuk - Best Junior Athlete of December, who won gold in the U17 75kg category at the European Junior Boxing Championships in Kienbaum, Germany.
  • Dmytro Kotovskyi - Best Athlete of January 2026, victorious at a Freestyle Skiing World Cup stage in Lac-Beauport, Canada, performing a 'Hurricane' jump.
  • Vladyslav Klymenko - Best Junior Athlete of January, who earned a bronze medal at the European Junior Skeleton Championships in Winterberg, Germany.
  • Taras Tarasiuk - Best Junior Athlete of February, who secured a silver medal in the individual race at the Youth World Biathlon Championships in Arber, Germany.

In addition to the athletes, the top coaches, sports organizations, and federations of the month will also receive awards.

The ceremony aims to celebrate the achievements of Ukrainian athletes on the international stage, underscoring the significance of sport for the nation.

Recognizing top performers not only motivates them toward further success but also helps promote sports among Ukrainian youth. This initiative further demonstrates the NOC's active role in supporting and developing Ukrainian sport under current difficult circumstances.
