Statement from Ukraine's Prime Minister

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko has welcomed Norway's decision to provide $200 million in budgetary support to Ukraine through the World Bank's PEACE project. This funding represents a crucial contribution to sustaining the Ukrainian economy amidst its current severe challenges. The support underscores the vital role of international cooperation during times of crisis.

Yuliia Svyrydenko: 'We value Norway's partnership and its unwavering solidarity with Ukraine.'

The Role of the PEACE Project

Launched in 2022, the PEACE project has already mobilized nearly $52 billion in assistance for Ukraine. Of this total, $13.4 billion has been allocated specifically for pension payments, providing essential social support to the population. This sustained international funding is critical for Ukraine's economic stability as it continues to defend its sovereignty.

Norway's financial assistance through the PEACE project is a significant step toward strengthening Ukraine's economic resilience during a period of immense external and internal pressure. It also demonstrates the active involvement of international partners in Ukraine's recovery and support, which is expected to have a positive long-term impact on the country's economic outlook.
