Agricultural Grant Programs Get a Major Update
Ukraine’s government has overhauled its agricultural grant programs to align them with European Union regulations. The changes target grants for horticulture, berry farming, viticulture, greenhouse operations, and the construction of fruit and vegetable storage facilities. This reform is a key step to ensure Ukrainian initiatives comply with EU standards under the Ukraine Facility framework.
Key Changes in the Grant Framework
New requirements include mandatory background checks on grant recipients, following the terms of the Framework Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. Grantees must now display the EU emblem and the label 'funded by the European Union – Ukraine Facility'. Notably, entities under EU sanctions are barred from receiving funds. The updated rules also mandate expert review of project budgets and stricter oversight of equipment and material costs.
The revised regulations broaden access for small farms and open up new regions for almond cultivation, creating fresh opportunities for agricultural producers.
This modernization of agricultural grant programs represents a pivotal move toward embedding European standards in Ukraine. Recently, the government introduced training grants for defense industry professionals, which can reach up to 30,000 Hryvnias.
