Ukraine Launches Defense Industry Training Grants of Up to 30,000 Hryvnias
Pilot Project Aims to Bridge the Gap Between Training and Employer Needs
According to Главком: The Ukrainian government has approved a pilot project designed to better align vocational training with the specific demands of employers, particularly in the defense-industrial complex (DIC) and other priority sectors. This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen the nation's economic resilience and workforce. State support will provide grants of up to 30,000 hryvnias for obtaining a full professional qualification and up to 15,000 hryvnias for a partial qualification. The program is funded by the Unemployment Insurance Fund of the Social Insurance Fund.
'Point of Support' Program and the Brave1 Grant Initiative
Separately, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the 'Point of Support' program to aid enterprises forced to suspend operations or recover from damages. In a related development, Ukraine and the European Union have announced a new grant program called Brave1 – Eu4ua Defence Tech.
Yuliia Svyrydenko noted: 'Ukraine already has a mechanism for supporting training through vouchers and retraining. Now, the government is strengthening the link between state support and specific employer demand and provides for two forms of support: a grant for the individual and compensation for employers who invest in staff training.'
She also emphasized that 'the same maximum amounts will apply for compensating employers for the costs of training their employees.' Consequently, these new government initiatives aim to improve specialist training in direct response to labor market needs, especially in sectors critical to the country's security and recovery.
The proposed measures are vital for strengthening Ukraine's economic stability amid ongoing challenges. Leveraging grants and state support for workforce development will not only enhance the quality of the labor force but also aid in the recovery and growth of businesses impacted by the conflict. This represents a significant step toward economic revitalization and ensuring the country's long-term resilience.
In addition to the newly launched training grants, the Ukrainian government is also focusing on revitalizing the processing industry. Recently, a second round of grants has been announced, offering millions to support businesses in this sector. These initiatives not only aim to enhance workforce skills but also provide essential financial resources for companies to thrive in challenging economic conditions.
