Expanded Support for Ukrainian Families with Children
The Ukrainian Ministry of Social Policy and the Pension Fund have jointly launched new initiatives to assist families raising children. These measures include prenatal support, a one-time birth payment, and childcare assistance. Specifically, uninsured pregnant women are now eligible for a prenatal grant of 7,000 hryvnias. The one-time payment for a newborn has been significantly increased to 50,000 hryvnias, providing substantial financial relief to new parents.

Furthermore, families can receive monthly childcare assistance of 7,000 hryvnias for a child up to one year old. For families with a child with a disability, this monthly amount rises to 10,500 hryvnias. The "eYasla" program also offers 8,000 hryvnias per month to parents who return to full-time work after their child turns one. Families raising a child with a disability can receive 12,000 hryvnias monthly under this same initiative. These programs are part of a broader effort to strengthen the social safety net during a challenging period for the country.
Applications for these benefits can be submitted at any Pension Fund service center. The newborn payment and the "Baby Package" can also be arranged via the "eMaliatko" (eBaby) service within the Diia government portal. These new measures are designed to support families and alleviate the significant financial burden associated with having a child.
These initiatives may also influence the country's demographic trends by encouraging young families to have children.
The expanded support programs for Ukrainian families reflect the government's efforts to bolster social policy and improve the living standards of young households. The increase in the birth payment and the enhanced childcare assistance are critical steps toward ensuring financial stability for parents during a time when child-rearing expenses are typically at their highest.
