Large-Scale Audit in the Ministry of Defense
The newly appointed Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov announced the start of a large-scale audit in the Ministry of Defense. He emphasized the critical state of affairs, particularly the issues with personnel and law enforcement. According to Fedorov, 200 thousand military personnel are currently in the status of contract service.
Fedorov noted that the Ministry of Defense received 300 billion hryvnias less funding than last year, making it more difficult to fulfill its tasks. The minister also highlighted the need to address the human capital already present in the Armed Forces and Defense Forces.
'We need to first address the human capital that is already in the Armed Forces and generally in the Defense Forces,' said Mykhailo Fedorov.
Fedorov also mentioned the establishment of a 25% margin for manufacturers of drones, electronic warfare systems, and ammunition. He added: 'Our task now is to ensure equal competitive conditions for these companies, so that those companies that produce effective products that work on the battlefield have the best price and receive offers and contracts from the Ministry of Defense.'
The Importance of the Audit for Defense Reforms
In concluding his speech, Fedorov emphasized the importance of halting negative trends in the defense sphere: 'We need to stop it (the negative trend).' The audit, according to the minister, should be the first step towards solving existing problems and increasing the effectiveness of the Ministry of Defense.
The planned audit in the Ministry of Defense is an important step in the context of the current challenges faced by the Ukrainian army. Decreased funding and personnel issues can significantly impact the country's ability to protect its interests, especially in the face of growing threats. The implementation of proposed changes and the establishment of new standards for military product supply can help improve the situation.
Thus, a successful audit will become the basis for further reforms in the defense sector.
