The refinery in Russia ceased operations after a drone strike
The oil refinery in Novokuybyshevsk, which is part of the 'Rosneft' company, stopped its operations on Sunday, October 19, after being attacked by drones. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing Reuters.
The plant halted the operation of the oil distillation unit CDU-11 with a daily capacity of 18,900 tons, equivalent to about 138,540 barrels per day. Another unit, CDU-9, was also shut down that day.
Previously, the primary oil processing at the plant had already been halted after drone attacks last month. The plant plans to resume production in early November. According to industry sources, the plant processed 5.74 million tons of oil and produced 1.10 million tons of gasoline, 1.64 million tons of diesel fuel, and 1.27 million tons of heavy fuel oil this reporting year.
Recall that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the strikes on two major enterprises on the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as a fuel and lubricant warehouse in temporarily occupied Berdyansk. All attacks were carried out in the night of October 19.
Explosions and fires were recorded at the Novokuybyshevsk refinery (Samara region). Preliminary reports indicate that the primary oil processing units (ELOU AVT) were damaged.
As a result of the drone strike, the operation of primary oil processing units at the Novokuybyshevsk refinery in Russia was halted. This led to a stoppage of part of the production and may cause fuel supply issues. Reports of explosions and fires have been made in the area of the refinery, where the units were hit. Currently, the plant's operations are planned to be restored in the near future.
