Re-evaluation Deadline for 'Limited Fitness' Status in Ukraine
Ukrainian citizens aged 25 to 60 who were classified as having 'limited fitness' for military service before May 4, 2024, are now required to undergo a repeat military medical commission (MMC) by June 5, 2026. This mandate stems from amendments to Ukrainian legislation, specifically Law No. 3621-IX dated March 21, 2024, as revised by Law No. 4235-IX on February 12, 2025. It is important to note that the previous classifications of 'limited fitness for military service' and 'unfit in peacetime, limited fitness in wartime' were officially abolished as of May 2024. This policy shift reflects an ongoing effort to streamline military personnel management during a prolonged national defense effort.
Procedure for the Medical Re-assessment
To complete the re-assessment, individuals must either appear in person at their local Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TRC) according to their place of registration or submit a formal request through the electronic cabinet in the 'Reserve+' application. The following documents are required for the appointment:
- Ukrainian passport,
- military registration document,
- any existing medical reports or certificates concerning health status.
A regional TRC has clarified the requirement: 'All conscription-age individuals deemed to have limited fitness before May 4, 2024, must undergo a repeat MMC by June 5, 2026.'
Further clarification on the procedure is available via the Ministry of Defense hotline at 1512.
This update is critical for citizens holding the 'limited fitness' status, as it establishes new deadlines and procedures necessary for maintaining their classification. The legislative changes indicate an adaptation of military service requirements to evolving conditions, emphasizing the need for regular health reassessments of those liable for service, which directly impacts national defense readiness.
