A New Deferral Service for Specialists
Ukraine has launched a new service to temporarily exempt specialists working for defense enterprises from military call-up, specifically for those whose military registration is not yet in order. This measure provides a deferral for up to 45 days, allowing employees time to resolve their military registration status through the state's Diia portal. This initiative is part of broader efforts to balance wartime mobilization needs with the retention of critical industrial expertise.
How to Obtain a Temporary Deferral
To secure a temporary deferral for an employee, a defense enterprise must submit an application via the Diia portal. The system automatically verifies several key conditions:
- The specialist's personal data;
- Their current military registration status;
- Whether they have already received a temporary deferral within the past year.
If all conditions are met, a temporary 45-day deferral is issued. During this period, the employee must resolve their military registration. Following this, the employer can then apply for a standard, longer-term deferral for the specialist.
This service was implemented in accordance with Ukraine's Law 'On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization'.
The introduction of this service aims to support defense industries during wartime by ensuring operational stability and providing a legal pathway for employees to formalize their military status. It also helps streamline mobilization processes and enhances the readiness of enterprises to fulfill critical defense orders.
In addition to the new deferral service, the Diia portal now facilitates reservations for employees facing military registration challenges. This enhancement is crucial for ensuring that defense enterprises can maintain their workforce while navigating the complexities of military obligations. By streamlining these processes, the government aims to bolster the operational capacity of the defense sector during this critical period.
