Widespread Train Delays in Ukraine Following Attacks on Rail Infrastructure
Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) has announced significant train delays across the country due to recent attacks on its rail network. The ongoing conflict continues to directly impact civilian infrastructure and travel. Damage has been reported in the Sumy region, a high-risk zone has been declared in Kharkiv, and the situation remains unstable in Zaporizhzhia. In Sumy, a locomotive and overhead power lines were damaged, forcing railway staff and passengers to take shelter. Consequently, trains on the Sumy-Kyiv and Sumy-Kharkiv routes are experiencing delays.
Alterations to Train Schedules
The Lozova – Barvinkove – Kramatorsk section remains a high-risk area, where rail service has been replaced by a bus detour. In several other regions, Ukrzaliznytsia has temporarily adjusted schedules for commuter trains. Some routes have been shortened to terminate at the Krolevets station, while service to the Snovsk station has been suspended entirely.
Ukrzaliznytsia also stated that security monitoring has been intensified across the region. Depending on the situation, additional bus transfers may be implemented. Passengers are urged to pay close attention to instructions from train crews and station stewards.
