An incident that occurred at an Islamic school in Indonesia resulted in the death of at least one student and numerous injuries. The tragedy happened during prayer, when about a hundred people were inside the building. Rescuers are conducting operations to search for victims under the rubble and to retrieve them for assistance. So far, 89 students have been rescued from the rubble, but searches are ongoing.
It has been confirmed that one 13-year-old boy has died. 99 students have been hospitalized with various injuries, some in critical condition. 65 students are still considered missing. The persistent efforts of rescuers have already yielded results, bringing out eight injured individuals.
According to preliminary reports, the cause of the school collapse was illegal renovations, during which two additional floors were added to the two-story building without permission. Currently, the rescue operation is complicated by the weight of the debris and the instability of the concrete slabs. Everything possible must be done to save the injured and bring them to the surface.
