An unfortunate incident occurred on the Sumy railway direction. Russian drones attacked railway infrastructure objects, damaging the windows of passenger cars and the station building. This led to delays in train movements, including train No. 46 Uzhhorod – Kharkiv, train No. 113 Kharkiv – Lviv, regional train No. 895 Konotop – Fastiv-1, and suburban train No. 6452 Nizhyn – Konotop.

On Saturday, October 18, Russian forces attacked Sumy with drones. The drones hit railway infrastructure objects, damaging the windows of passenger cars and the station buildings.

The head of Ukrzaliznytsia, Oleksandr Pertsovsky, reported that since mid-summer 2025, Russia has been actively using Shahid drones to attack Ukraine's railway infrastructure. These attacks aim to spread panic among passengers and cause damage to the country's economy rather than targeting military objects. Russian drones allow precise strikes on civilian infrastructure, threatening both civilian and military transportation.

The Ukrainian railway is constantly under threat from Russian drone attacks that continuously harm the infrastructure and transport along the routes. The Russian Federation is seeking ways to disrupt Ukrainian transportation, but Ukrzaliznytsia has actively responded to these threats and continues to operate normally even under such conditions.
