UNHCR Financial Aid Initiative
The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has initiated a financial assistance program in Dnipro, starting in March 2026, for vulnerable groups impacted by the war. This one-time payment of 10,800 Ukrainian hryvnias per person is designed to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees who have returned home, provided they meet low-income and specific vulnerability criteria. This aid is part of broader international efforts to help civilians recover from the conflict's devastation.
The assistance, calculated as 3,600 hryvnias per month for three months, will be disbursed as a single lump sum to a Ukrainian hryvnia bank account. Registration is strictly in-person at 14 Yuliusha Slovatskoho Street, Dnipro, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that registration slots are limited.
Eligibility Requirements for Assistance
Applicants must fall into one of the following categories:
- Internally displaced persons (IDPs) who officially received this status within the last six months;
- Refugees who have returned home from another country.
Basic mandatory requirements include not having received payments from other charitable or humanitarian organizations in the preceding three months, and a total monthly family income not exceeding 6,300 hryvnias per person.
Vulnerability criteria are defined as follows:
- Families where a single mother or father is raising children under 18 or supporting persons over 55;
- Single individuals over 55 years old managing a household;
- Single Ukrainians over 55 years old who have children under 18 in their care;
- Families that include persons with special needs, officially recognized disabilities, or severe chronic illnesses.
This UNHCR initiative represents a significant step in supporting populations suffering from the war's adverse effects. The financial aid aims to cover the basic needs of vulnerable groups, potentially easing their adaptation during post-conflict recovery. By targeting those most in need, the program seeks to contribute to restoring social stability in the region.
