In Lviv, the start of the heating season has been postponed due to the consequences of Russian shelling of energy infrastructure. This was reported by the city mayor Andriy Sadovyi.

According to the mayor, the city cannot yet begin full heat supply.

"The situation is such that for the next few weeks we cannot provide heating. We need to wait a bit to do everything correctly — so that it is warm in winter," Sadovyi explained.

In October, Lviv received only 8 million cubic meters of gas instead of the necessary 18 million, so heat is currently only supplied to:

  • schools;

  • kindergartens;

  • hospitals that submitted applications.

The mayor urged residents to prepare alternative heating sources and to help those who cannot do it themselves.

Starting from October 11, the city will enter a testing mode for systems to check the readiness of all services for the cold weather.

Also, this week part of the traffic lights will be temporarily disconnected from the main power supply — they will be switched to backup systems to ensure they will work during potential blackouts.

Earlier we reported that in Lviv a memorial plaque has been unveiled for former Speaker of the Council Andriy Parubiy.
