The biggest problems that worry Russians


According to the latest survey by the Levada Center, the rising prices, the war in Ukraine, and the pension reform are the biggest concerns for Russians.



The most pressing issue for Russians remains the rising prices – noted by 58% of respondents. In second place is the war in Ukraine and 'conflict with the West' (33%), while the pension reform and increase in the retirement age (28%) rounds out the top three.


Among other pressing issues, the following can be highlighted: migration and the influx of newcomers, corruption and bribery, the housing crisis and expensive mortgages, the spread of drug addiction, lack of accessible medical care, as well as the threat of terrorism.

At the same time, civil rights restrictions, salary delays, and police brutality are of less significance for respondents.



Social tension and attitude towards the war with Ukraine


The survey indicates rising social tension in society, especially against the backdrop of economic difficulties, foreign policy isolation, and the prolonged war in Ukraine. According to the Levada Center study, more and more Russians express a desire to end the war with Ukraine.



In May 2025, 64% of respondents advocated for peace negotiations, which is the highest figure since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine. Those who want to continue the war account for only 28%.


The survey results also showed that Russians' attitudes towards Ukraine have become less hostile. The percentage of citizens who consider Ukraine an enemy has decreased to 38% in 2025, which is the lowest figure since 2014.



Conclusion: According to the Levada Center survey, the biggest problems that worry Russians are rising prices, the war in Ukraine, and pension reform. Russians also express a desire to end the war with Ukraine, indicating a decrease in hostile attitudes towards the neighboring state.
