Armenia’s Parliamentary Election Results
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s political party, Civil Contract, emerged victorious in Armenia’s parliamentary elections, securing 49.81% of the vote—amounting to 727,160 ballots. The election took place amid heightened tensions between the West and Russia following the loss of Nagorno-Karabakh. Opposition groups, including the Strong Armenia bloc led by Samvel Karapetyan, have challenged the outcome, arguing that the voting process was not fully concluded.
With all 2,005 precincts counted, the final vote distribution is as follows:
- Civil Contract Party: 727,160 votes (49.81%)
- Strong Armenia: 340,062 votes (23.29%)
- Armenia Bloc (led by Robert Kocharyan): 145,097 votes (9.94%)
- Prosperous Armenia Party: 58,368 votes (4%)
- Wings of Unity Party: 33,618 votes (2.30%)
Based on preliminary seat allocations, Civil Contract is set to hold 61 seats, Strong Armenia 28, the Armenia Bloc 11, and Prosperous Armenia 5.
“There has never been a case in world history where vote counting was interrupted and they said, ‘We will announce the results at nine in the morning.’”

This election marks the first parliamentary vote since Armenia lost control of Nagorno-Karabakh in autumn 2023. It unfolded against a backdrop of worsening relations between Yerevan and the Kremlin. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Nikol Pashinyan on his victory, calling it “a triumph for Armenia’s sovereignty, independence, and the right of its people to determine their own path.”
The election results are poised to reshape Armenia’s domestic political landscape and its geopolitical orientation, as the country navigates its alignment between Western powers and Russia. Western backing—particularly from Ukraine—signals a potential shift in Armenia’s foreign policy, which could further strain ties with Moscow amid the ongoing regional crisis. The new government’s next moves will likely influence not only internal stability but also Armenia’s relationships with neighboring countries and major global actors.
The recent election results not only highlight the political dynamics within Armenia but also draw comparisons to previous elections, such as when Pashinyan secured a significant majority in earlier contests. This context is crucial in understanding the shifting political landscape and the implications for Armenia's future, especially in light of ongoing tensions in the region.
