Passenger traffic at the border of Ukraine reached peak levels

According to the spokesman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko, passenger traffic at the border peaked this summer. The highest number of crossings was recorded at the border with Poland, which accounts for half of the total number of passengers. In June, the number of crossings increased by 23% compared to May, reaching 3 million 550 thousand people.



The weekends of July saw the highest passenger traffic at the border. On these days, up to 148.5 thousand citizens cross per day. Ukrainians make up 85% of the total number of passengers, predominantly women, children, and the elderly. Demchenko explained that the summer months are characterized by high passenger traffic, and August is expected to see an increased influx of citizens into Ukraine before the start of the school year.


This season, passenger traffic at the border reached peak values, increasing every month. Among Ukrainians, the majority crossing the border are women, children, and the elderly. The summer months are marked by high numbers of passengers, and August brings a large influx into Ukraine as citizens return home before the school year begins.
