Warning from the Patrol Police
The Patrol Police of Ukraine warns drivers about administrative responsibility for decorating cars with electric garlands. Such actions violate the Traffic Rules, which can lead to fines. According to Section 31 of the Traffic Rules, interfering with the external lighting devices of a car is unacceptable.
Fines for Violations
In Ukraine, a standard fine for violations related to the use of garlands is set at 340 hryvnias. However, in the case of using a garland that imitates special signals, the fine may increase to 8500 hryvnias with the possibility of confiscation. According to Article 122-5 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, garlands that resemble blinking beacons are considered illegal.
The police emphasize that it is allowed to use standard fog lights and additional brake signals that do not have a flashing function. Drivers who plan to decorate their cars for the holidays should consider these rules to avoid troubles with law enforcement agencies.
This police initiative is part of efforts to ensure road safety during festive periods when the number of cars on the roads typically increases. It is important for drivers to understand that even holiday decorations can have legal consequences if they violate safety rules. Thus, adhering to established norms will help to avoid not only financial penalties but also possible emergency situations on the roads.
