Pavlo Zibrov's fee and New Year's events in Kyiv
Pavlo Zibrov, the People's Artist of Ukraine, admitted that his fee for the New Year's performance this year is 100 thousand euros. This is twice as much as last year's amount, when he asked for 100 thousand dollars. Zibrov explained that the high fee is due to his desire to celebrate the holiday with family, as January is a non-working month for the artist.
Kyiv welcomes the New Year in a limited format, as mass events in the squares are not planned. However, clubs, concert venues, restaurants, and hotels will operate on New Year's Eve, offering various festive programs. Entrance prices for club parties start from a few hundred hryvnias, while restaurants may offer programs that cost tens of thousands of hryvnias.
'Not because it's bad here. It's the best. But in Ukraine, it's unrealistic for public figures to relax. Every day someone approaches – whether familiar or not – asking to drink, take photos, or shoot videos. And that's it – the rest is over,' said Pavlo Zibrov.
Prospects for festive events
Zibrov also noted that despite high fees, public figures find it hard to relax in Ukraine. Thus, while festive events in Kyiv will have certain limitations, the demand for festive performances and programs remains high.
The increase in artists' fees for New Year's performances may indicate rising prices for entertainment services in Ukraine amid economic instability. Despite the restrictions on mass events, interest in festive programs does not decrease, as people strive to celebrate holidays in a festive atmosphere, which can be a positive signal for the entertainment industry. It also highlights the importance of the artist in the cultural life of the country, even in conditions where personal life is under close scrutiny from the public.
