Funding for Social Payments in Ukraine
The Ukrainian Pension Fund has released its latest figures on social payment funding and services provided as of March 15. This month, the Fund's offices handled over 825,100 service requests from citizens.
According to the report, a total of 43.5 billion hryvnias was allocated for pension payments. The distribution of these funds was as follows:
- 6.9 billion hryvnias were disbursed via Ukrposhta, the national postal service;
- 36.6 billion hryvnias were paid out through authorized banks.
Beyond pensions, the Fund allocated 4.6 billion hryvnias for housing subsidies and benefits, and 2.4 billion hryvnias for insurance payments. Of the insurance total, 1.2 billion hryvnias covered sick leave compensation. An additional 9.0 billion hryvnias was spent on state aid and other social benefits.
These figures demonstrate the continued financing of Ukraine's social programs, a critical element of public support amid ongoing economic challenges. Maintaining this support is vital for social stability during the war.
The substantial funding directed toward pensions and social assistance highlights the state's prioritization of these areas, particularly during a period of instability requiring robust social safety nets. The use of multiple disbursement channels, including banks and the postal service, reflects an effort to optimize processes and ensure the accessibility of financial services for all citizens, including those in remote areas.
