Funding for Social Benefits
As of January 23, Ukraine's Pension Fund financed a series of social benefits and provided services to citizens. The total sum of pension payments reached 65.7 billion hryvnias (UAH). Of this amount, 8.9 billion UAH was distributed via JSC 'Ukrposhta' (the national postal service), while 56.8 billion UAH was paid out through authorized banks.
In addition to pensions, 5 billion UAH was allocated for housing subsidies and utility benefits. Insurance payments accounted for 2.7 billion UAH, with 1.5 billion UAH of that covering sick leave compensation. State aid and other benefits totaled 8.7 billion UAH. Throughout January, services were provided to a total of 1,110,300 citizens. These social expenditures are a critical component of the national budget, especially during a period of significant economic strain.
The Significance of Social Policy
These figures highlight the government's active social policy, which is focused on supporting citizens amidst ongoing economic challenges. Timely pension and social assistance payments are vital for maintaining population welfare and stability, particularly for vulnerable groups such as retirees and low-income families. The consistent funding of these programs also contributes positively to broader social stability within the country.
