Pentagon announces withdrawal of Marines from Los Angeles

The Pentagon announced the completion of the deployment of about 700 Marines in Los Angeles to protect federal property and personnel during protests against the Trump administration's immigration raids. This information is reported by 'Glavkom' citing 'Reuters'.


Over the past week, half of the 4,000 National Guard troops that were also sent to Los Angeles have been withdrawn. Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell stated: 'With stability returning to Los Angeles, the Secretary has ordered the redeployment of 700 Marines, whose presence has made it clear: lawlessness will not be tolerated.'



Protests and military intervention in Los Angeles


President Trump sent Marines and the National Guard to Los Angeles in June of this year without the governor's permission, which sparked criticism and legal questions. Nevertheless, the Appeals Court allowed Trump to maintain control over the California National Guard.



The protection of federal property and personnel during protests against the Trump administration's immigration raids led to the deployment of Marines in Los Angeles. Despite criticism and legal issues, the president's decision was upheld by the Appeals Court, allowing him to maintain control over the California National Guard.
