Cash Assistance for Bakhmut's Internally Displaced Persons

The charitable organization Global Empowerment Mission Ukraine has announced a quarterly cash assistance program of 2,000 hryvnias for internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Bakhmut who are temporarily residing in Dnipro. This initiative provides direct financial support to those who have fled one of the war's most devastated cities. The application window for evacuees is extremely brief, open only on April 1st and 2nd, 2026, at a center located at 1-B Makarova Street.

This aid program is targeted at individuals who hold official IDP status, were registered in Bakhmut, and are now living in Dnipro. To register for assistance, applicants must provide originals and copies of their Ukrainian passport, tax identification number, and IDP certificate. The program specifically makes aid available to the following priority groups:

  • People with disabilities of groups I, II, and III;
  • Children with disabilities;
  • Citizens over the age of 60;
  • Families with three or more children;
  • Single parents with minor children;
  • Guardians of orphaned children;
  • Relatives of prisoners of war or missing persons;
  • People who have lost close family members during the war or due to shelling;
  • Citizens affected by the Chornobyl nuclear disaster.

The program organizers urge all eligible individuals not to miss this opportunity for financial support.

“We emphasize once again! The fund will not extend the application deadline indefinitely! Therefore, we strongly recommend submitting the required documents. It is not very common for funds to offer direct cash assistance at present,” stated representatives of the organization.

Significance of the Initiative

This effort highlights the ongoing work of charitable organizations in Ukraine to support IDPs who are victims of the armed conflict. Direct cash aid can significantly ease the financial burden for vulnerable groups, especially amid the country's prolonged crisis. The limited application period underscores the urgent need to address the pressing needs of this population and the finite nature of such resources.

In addition to the assistance provided by the Global Empowerment Mission, the UN Refugee Agency has also launched a cash support initiative in Dnipro, offering vulnerable individuals and internally displaced persons up to 10,800 hryvnias. This program complements existing efforts to aid those affected by the ongoing conflict, ensuring that a broader range of needs is addressed.
