The Early Days of 'Monsters, Inc.'

Jay Ward, the creative director of the Pixar franchise, has shared intriguing details about the early development of the beloved animated film 'Monsters, Inc.'. During a presentation at the interactive exhibition 'Mundo Pixar Experience' in London, he disclosed that the project, which the Pixar team began working on in 1998, was initially given the working title 'Hidden City'. Ward explained that this name came from a sign for the 'Hidden City Cafe', a location featured in the film's storyline.

'When I started working on this project at the end of 1998, it didn't even have the name 'Monsters, Inc.' yet. We called it 'Hidden City'. All our films start with a temporary working title before getting their official one,' noted Jay Ward.
